My name is Lynn Altmayer.  I am a graduate of National Louis
University in Evanston, IL. with a degree in Elementary Education K-
9.   I am also certified in Special Education for Learning Disabilities
and Behaviorally Handicapped.  I have taught for 18 years outside of
Ohio in the K – 2 areas as well as in Special Education.

I previously taught at Willo-Hill Christian and Painseville Christian
Academy in Ohio.  This is my second year at RHCS

In kindergarten I enjoy teaching with a hands on approach.   I use
"touch math" to help students remember numbers and to begin basic
addition and subtractions.  I also use number poems in math.  I use
music and movement daily to reinforce what we have learned from the
Bible.  We learn our letters and sounds and learn to but basic sounds
together to form words.  We also learn many important skills such as
rhyming, patterning, sequencing and counting.

We started our year with a fun activity of making and baking a large
gingerbread man.  We then went to music only to find he had run
away.  We searched the school for him and found him hiding in our
classroom.  We ate him.

Special interests and emphasis this year will be on community
helpers and animals.  We will visit the Fire Station, Police Station and
the Zoo.  Parent involvement is encouraged to help us learn through
art, cooking and science.  We are the "Cosmic Kindergartners" which
emphasizes God's creation of the whole universe/solar system and
us.

I enjoy sewing, gardening, drawing, singing, playing the piano and
walking/jogging.  I have a married daughter and one granddaughter.  I
also have a 21 year old and 12 year old daughter.  My husband is a
nuclear engineer working at Westinghouse in PA currently.
